Taking Action Against Climate Change

Are you shocked by all the logging of the tall fir trees from the median of Hwy 1 between Abbotsford and Langley to make way for the highway expansion?

Let's get some trees replanted!!

Since 2019, the UC Earth Stewards have raised enough money to purchase 900 trees and have them planted in Willband Creek Park [along the Mission Highway and in Ellwood Park.

For a fundraiser on April 7th, they have organized Brian Minter to speak on gardening in a changing climate. Shawn Gurney, Abbotsford's Manager of Urban Forestry, will have a display and answer questions, as well.

If you can, please attend the UC Earth Steward fundraiser event on Sunday, April 7th at 7 pm. The Trinity Memorial United Church is in downtown Abbotsford near where the old farmer's market used to be.

Bring your family and friends. Tickets are $20 and all of the money raised goes to the purchase of trees. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Don at 778-808-5835 or are available at the door.

The event includes door prizes and refreshments.

Thank you for all your help to fight climate change!!
