Volunteer Day - May 6th 2023

A little rain didn’t stop our hardworking gardeners from cleaning up Highland Community Garden on Saturday morning. The entire border, the North-West garden area and the garden shed were weeded or cleaned up extensively, so it looks a lot better now.

This year we have a total of 54 gardeners in HCG and today we had 25 gardeners (plus their families) come out to dig up weeds and old plants, spread bark mulch, laugh, eat donuts and drink coffee. What a lot of people on a damp and misty day! Everyone did a fabulous job and the garden looks so much better. Thanks so much!

The next and last volunteer day is Saturday, June 10. Please sign up on the website. As you know, three hours of garden work is required every year to help to keep our garden running well and to keep your plot in the community garden, according to our garden guidelines. If you are not able to attend this work day on June 10, you will be assigned a three hour task that needs to be done in the garden.

For many people it's a lot more fun to work on a workday, to meet new gardeners and get the task done quickly. Try to join us on June 10th if you can.

Hopefully we’ll see many of you soon in the garden. By the way, if you haven’t been to your garden plot in the last two weeks the Morning Glory is starting to take over……in quite few plots.

Good luck!

Highland Executive Daryl, Donna-Lee, Edythe, Maryann and Wendy
